{allcanada} Slepyshev gets contract offer from Oilers

Anton Slepyshev has received a contract offer from the Edmonton Oilers, who the restricted free agent forward played for from 2015-18.

Slepyshev, selected by Edmonton in the third round (No. 88) of the 2013 NHL Draft, has played the past two seasons for CKSA Moscow of the Kontinental Hockey League.

"We would like to sign him," Oilers general manager Ken Holland said Tuesday during a videoconference arranged by the Oilers. "I have made an offer. I stay in touch with (agent) Dan [Milstein] occasionally, waiting to hear what decision Anton has made."

Holland said he went to Russia after Christmas to watch Slepyshev play and discuss the possibility of a return to the NHL with him and Milstein.

Slepyshev, who turns 26 on May 13, had 23 points (10 goals, 13 assists) in 102 games over three seasons for the Oilers, including 12 (six goals, six assists) in 50 games in 2017-18.

He left for the KHL after his entry-level contract expired and had 70 points (33 goals, 37 assists) in 110 games for CSKA.

The KHL has canceled the remainder of its 2019-20 season due to concerns surrounding the coronavirus. The NHL, which paused its season March 12, could resume.
