{allcanada} Giordano is game-time decision for Flames against Bruins

Mark Giordano is a game-time decision for the Calgary Flames when they play the Boston Bruins at TD Garden on Tuesday (7 p.m. ET; NESN, SNW, NHL.TV).

Giordano, last season's Norris Trophy winner voted as the top defenseman in the NHL, has missed the past nine games after sustaining a hamstring injury against the San Jose Sharks on Feb. 4.

"Not official. It'll be game-time, but he's getting close," coach Geoff Ward said after Giordano took part in the morning skate.

The Flames captain has 27 points (five goals, 22 assists) in 54 games for the Flames (32-25-6), who are tied with the Arizona Coyotes for the first wild card into the Stanley Cup Playoffs from the Western Conference and are two points behind the Vancouver Canucks for third in the Pacific Division.

General manager Brad Treliving said on Feb. 19 that Giordano was skating on his own, would accompany the Flames on a five-game road trip that began with a 4-2 victory against the Detroit Red Wings on Sunday and could play during the trip.

"You wouldn't bring him unless there's a possibility of him playing," Treliving said. "When they're not going to play, then you wouldn't bring them and you can save them flying around the countryside. But we'll see."
