{allcanada} Oilers part ways with assistant coaches Yawney, Viveiros

The Edmonton Oilers are parting ways with two assistant coaches after only one season with the club.

Both Trent Yawney and Manny Viveiros will not return behind the bench next season, Sportsnet's Mark Spector reports.

Yawney, 53, joined the Oilers for the 2018-19 season after he was an assistant coach for five years with the Anaheim Ducks. He was head coach of the Chicago Blackhawks from 2005-07.

Viveiros, 53, also served one season in Edmonton. Before joining the Oilers, he was the head coach of the WHL's Swift Current Broncos, where he led the Broncos to a WHL championship and an appearance in the Memorial Cup in 2017-18.

Dave Tippett was hired by new GM Ken Holland on May 28. The Oilers have also since parted ways with skills development coach Paul Coffey.
