{allcanada} Canucks considering signing Luke Schenn to one-year extension

The Vancouver Canucks are in discussion to lock up defenceman Luke Schenn to a one-year extension, Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman reported during Hockey Night in Canada's Headlines segment Saturday.

"He's had an impact since he was traded for from Anaheim earlier this year," Friedman said. "Sounds like there's discussion on a one-year extension for him."

Schenn was traded in January this year from the Ducks along with a seventh-rounder in 2020 for Michael Del Zotto. In 14 games played with Vancouver this season, 29-year-old has two assists and a minus-4 rating.

He's slated to become an unrestricted free agent at the end of this season.

In other Canucks news, Friedman also reports that Canucks prospect William Lockwood will return for one more season of NCAA hockey next season.

"[The Canucks] had Quinn Hughes in the lineup this past week, he was very impressive in his first game," said Friedman. One of his [Michigan] teammates, Will Lockwood, was a Canucks prospect, 64th overall in 2016. He's informed [the Canucks] he's going back to Michigan for his senior season."
