After months of speculation, the Ottawa Senators have traded forward Matt Duchene to the Columbus Blue Jackets.
In return, the Senators receive a package including a conditional first-round draft pick from Columbus. The two teams square off in Ottawa Friday.
Duchene's status with the Senators had been in question for much of the 2018-19 season as the 28-year-old centreman is due to become an unrestricted free agent on July 1.
The Senators acquired Duchene from the Colorado Avalanche in a three-team blockbuster in November 2017 that also involved the Predators. In 118 games with Ottawa over the past two seasons, Duchene has registered 50 goals and 107 points.
