SELLA NEVEA, Italy — Canada's Kurt Oatway raced to a silver medal while Fredereique Turgeon picked up two bronze Thursday on the final day of racing at the 2019 IPC World Para-Alpine Skiing Championships.

Oatway, from Calgary, finished second in Thursday's super-G, which counted as both a stand-alone medal event and towards the super combined due to incoming bad weather. He also earned silver in Wednesday's downhill.

"I was shooting for two podiums here. I'm happy and the coaches are happy," Oatway said. "My super-G was kind of all over the place, to be honest. It was fast, but also sloppy, which didn't really give me the time I wanted, but it ended up working out in the right place, so I'm satisfied with it."

Oatway finished fourth in the super combined.

Turgeon, from Candiac, Que., was third in the super-G and also third in the super combined to bring her world championship medal count to three. She also won silver in the slalom last week in Slovenia, which co-hosted the championships with Italy.

"It's been a really good trip for me, starting with (two World Cup wins in) Zagreb, and (three podiums) here at World Champs," she said. "I'm coming back home with five medals — I couldn't dream to get better results."

The Canadians earned a total of six world championship medals. Calgary's Alana Ramsay had the other with a silver-medal performance in the women's giant slalom last week in Slovenia.
