The Vancouver Canucks have loaned forward Sam Gagner to the Toronto Marlies of the AHL after the veteran went unclaimed on waivers.
Gagner, 29, was placed on waivers by the Canucks earlier this week despite still having two-years left on his contract with an annual cap hit of $3,150,000. He has appeared in 770 games with the Canucks, Columbus Blue Jackets, Philadelphia Flyers and Edmonton Oilers, scoring 152 goals and 433 points in that time.
The move will let the London, Ont., native play closer to home. The Canucks' AHL team is located in Utica, N.Y.
