CHARLOTTETOWN — Cameron Askew scored on a power play six minutes into overtime as the Charlottetown Islanders edged the Blainville-Boisbriand Armada 3-2 on Sunday to force a seventh game in their Quebec Major Junior Hockey League semifinal series.
Nikita Alexandrov tied the game for the Islanders 17:49 into the third period. Brett Budgell opened the scoring in the first period.
Alex Barre-Boulet and Alexandre Alain scored 10 minutes apart in the second period to give the Armada a 2-1 lead. They also assisted on each others' goals.
Charlottetown goaltender Matthew Welsh stopped 16 shots. Blainville-Boisbriand's Emile Samson made 36 saves.
The Armada host Game 7 on Tuesday. The winner of the semifinal will face the Acadie-Bathurst Titan in the league's final series for the President Cup and a spot in the Memorial Cup tournament.
