NASHVIILE -- Mathieu Perreault said Saturday he's hoping to play for the Winnipeg Jets in the Western Conference Second Round against the Nashville Predators.
The Jets forward sustained an upper-body injury in Game 1 of the first round against the Minnesota Wild and hasn't played since.
At an optional practice at Bridgestone Arena on Saturday, Perreault skated in a yellow, non-contact jersey.
"I'm feeling better every day," Perreault said. "It's been one week since I've started skating again. I'm almost ready and getting close to a return.
"I'd like to be on the ice to help the team, but we're winning right now and I have a lot of fun watching the games."
Perreault said he liked what his teammates did in Game 1 against the Predators, winning 4-1 despite being outshot 48-19.
"On the road, there's no need to put on a show," he said. "We're just here to win a hockey game. No matter what the stats show, for us, the most important stats is the 4-1 on the scoreboard. That's what is important for us."
Game 2 of the best-of-7 series is here Sunday (7 p.m. ET; NBCSN, CBC, TVAS).
