The Toronto Maple Leafs temporarily sent down Kasperi Kapanen and Travis Dermott to the AHL's Toronto Marlies on Monday before immediately recalling them back up to the NHL.
The paper transaction allows for the pair of players to be eligible to play in the Calder Cup playoffs.
The NHL post-season is scheduled to begin on April 8 while the AHL playoffs commence just over a week later on April 16. If the Leafs' playoff run ends while the Marlies are still in the mix for an AHL championship, the pair of players can now join the affiliate.
The moves use up two of Toronto's four post-deadline call-ups.
Both players spent time playing for the Marlies this season – each logging 28 games – during which Kapanen picked up 24 points and Dermott added 18.
