The Hamilton Tiger-Cats have hired former Baylor head coach Art Briles as the team's "assistant head coach offence."

June Jones, who was promoted to head coach last week, announced the decision on Monday.

The 61-year-old served as head coach at Baylor from 2008-15 and owns over 35 years of coaching experience. He spent five years at the University of Houston before joining Baylor, posting a 34-28 record.

Briles led Baylor to back-to-back Big 12 Championships in 2013-14 and went 65-37 overall with a 3-3 record in bowl games.

He was fired by the university in June 2016 as part of the school's response to questions about its handling of sexual assault complaints against players.

The Tiger-Cats (0-8) had a bye in Week 10, but will return to the field on Labour Day, searching for their first win.
