Brad Gushue and his team have won the first ever Everest Curling Challenge, scoring a single point in the final end to defeat John Epping 6-5.
Gushue got off to a strong start, going up 3-0 after the first end, but things took a turn in the fourth. With the score 3-1, Epping got a steal on a dramatic measurement to make things 3-2. He carried that momentum into the next end, stealing another to even things up.
They would be tied 5-5 tied heading into the final end. With the hammer, Gushue pulled off a clutch hit-and-stick to capture the title.
With the win, Team Gushue takes home $200,000.
Team Gushue beat Team Jacobs to advance to the final.
