TORONTO — The Flames are set to spark the start of the hockey season as Sportsnet announces the 2017-18 Calgary Flames broadcast schedule, delivering all 82 regular season games on TV as well as on radio with Sportsnet 960 The FAN. Sportsnet's 2017-18 Flames TV broadcast schedule – featuring 36 national games and 46 regional games – gets underway on Wednesday, Oct. 4, the opening night of the NHL season, with the Battle of Alberta as the Flames visit the Edmonton Oilers.
All games will be streamed live on Sportsnet NOW, Rogers NHL LIVE (formerly Rogers NHL GameCentre LIVE), and Sportsnet.ca. Availability on each streaming service is based on viewers' subscription packages and region. Blackouts are determined by NHL broadcast regulations and apply based on where you live, the services you subscribe to and/or your location at time of viewing a live NHL game.
On TV – Regional
Sportsnet West will be home to 37 of the 46 regional Flames matchups this season, with the additional regional broadcasts airing on the Sportsnet ONE companion channel, Sportsnet Flames. The 2017-18 regional broadcast schedule begins on Monday, Oct. 9 as the Anaheim Ducks host the Flames at 8 p.m. MT on Sportsnet Flames.
Rick Ball returns to the broadcast booth to call play-by-play alongside analyst Kelly Hrudey and host Roger Millions. Eric Francis also returns to the Flames broadcast team this season, providing additional commentary for home games.
Highlights from Sportsnet's regional Calgary Flames broadcast schedule include:
• 16 Pacific Division matchups; including the first-ever game against the NHL's newest team the Vegas Golden Knights on Sportsnet West
• Eight all-Canadian matchups
• Two showdowns with the defending Stanley Cup Champion Pittsburgh Penguins

Sportsnet will broadcast 36 national Calgary Flames games this season, featured prominently on Sportsnet's three marquee national nights: Hockey Night in Canada on Saturdays – hockey's biggest night, Rogers Hometown Hockey on Sundays and Scotiabank Wednesday Night Hockey. Highlights from the Flames national broadcast schedule include:
• 13 games on Hockey Night in Canada, featuring six all-Canadian Saturday night showdowns, including two matchups vs. the Winnipeg Jets (channel allocations to be announced on a weekly basis)
• Six appearances on Scotiabank Wednesday Night Hockey, including opening night of the NHL season
• Three appearances on Rogers Hometown Hockey's Sunday night marquee matchup on Sportsnet, including an all-Canadian tilt against the Vancouver Canucks on Sunday, Dec. 17
On Radio – Sportsnet 960 The FAN
Sportsnet 960 The FAN is the exclusive home of Calgary Flames radio broadcasts this season. Derek Wills returns to call the play-by-play for all Flames radio broadcasts, alongside analyst Peter Loubardias. Pat Steinberg is back as host for pre- and post-game shows and overtime call-in shows. Weekends will also feature a brand new two-hour pre-game show.
Sportsnet 960 The FAN also has coverage of all eight Calgary Flames pre-season games beginning Monday, Sept. 18.
In addition to Sportsnet's Calgary Flames regional broadcasts, Sportsnet will deliver exclusive coverage of more than 450 national and regional NHL games this season. In addition to delivering premium Canadian matchups, Sportsnet's 2017-18 national broadcast schedule showcases the biggest events of the NHL season, including two outdoor games featuring Canadian teams – the NHL 100 Classic between Montreal and Ottawa on Saturday, Dec.16 and the 2018 Coors Light NHL Stadium Series game between Toronto and Washington on Saturday, March 3. The schedule also features exclusive coverage of the 2018 Bridgestone NHL Winter Classic on January 1, the 18th annual Scotiabank Hockey Day in Canada on January 20, the 2018 NHL All-Star Game on January 27-28, the 2018 Stanley Cup Playoffs and the 2018 Stanley Cup Final.
As home of hockey's brightest stars, Sportsnet is also the official regional television broadcast rights holder for the Edmonton Oilers, Toronto Maple Leafs (including radio rights on Sportsnet 590 The FAN) and Vancouver Canucks (including radio rights on Sportsnet 650), as well as the exclusive English-language national broadcast rights holder of NHL games in Canada.
