{allcanada} Alex Galchenyuk agrees to three-year contract with Canadiens


Forward Alex Galchenyuk agreed to terms on a three-year contract with the Montreal Canadiens.

Financial terms were not disclosed, but Sportsnet reported it has an average annual value of $4.9 million.

Galchenyuk, 23, had 44 points (17 goals, 27 assists) in 61 games with the Montreal Canadiens last season, missing six weeks because of a knee injury. He had six game-winning goals, including a League-high five in overtime. He also had three assists in six Stanley Cup Playoff games.

Selected by the Canadiens with the No. 3 pick in the 2012 NHL Draft, Galchenyuk has 204 points (89 goals, 115 assists) in 336 games and 13 points (four goals, nine assists) in 28 playoff games.
