{allcanada} Kris Versteeg close to re-signing with Flames: report

Forward Kris Versteeg is close to signing a one-year, $1.75 million contract to remain with the Calgary Flames, TSN reported Thursday.

Versteeg, 31, can become an unrestricted free agent July 1. He had 37 points (15 goals, 22 assists) in 69 regular-season games and four points (one goal, three assists) in four Stanley Cup Playoff games with the Flames this season.

The move would give Versteeg some stability after playing for five teams (Flames, Los Angeles Kings, Carolina Hurricanes, Chicago Blackhawks, Florida Panthers) over the past four seasons. He has totaled 350 points (146 goals, 204 assists) in 619 career games over 10 NHL seasons.
