Toronto Blue Jays starter Aaron Sanchez has been placed on the 10-day DL with a split nail.

TSN Baseball Insider Steve Phillips reports this setback isn't believed to be serious and says the ace should return soon. The Jays have not given an exact timeline for Sanchez's return to the mound, but are hopeful he won't be sidelined longer than the minimum 10 days.

Danny Barnes has been recalled from AAA Buffalo to take his spot on the roster.

Sanchez was activated from the DL on Sunday to start against the Tampa Bay Rays, but was only able to last one inning before being removed with the nail injury that has sent him back to the sidelines.

The 24-year-old originally went on the DL on April 16th with a blister problem and underwent a minor surgical procedure to have part of his fingernail removed.

Sanchez is 0-1 with a 4.05 ERA in 2017, he led the American League with a 3.00 ERA last season.
