{allcanada} Jacob Markstrom of Canucks out for season

Vancouver Canucks goaltender Jacob Markstrom will have knee surgery next week and will miss the rest of the season.

"This is a tough finish to the year for me," said Markstrom, 27. "I hate losing more than I love winning. I'm very eager to get back. There's nothing I love more than playing hockey."

Markstrom, who has not played since Feb. 16, is 10-11-3 with a 2.63 goals-against average and .910 save percentage in 26 games, including 23 starts as Ryan Miller's backup. He is 36-53-12 with a 2.91 GAA and .906 save percentage in 109 NHL games through parts of seven seasons with the Florida Panthers and Canucks.

The Canucks (30-37-9) are in sixth place in the Pacific Division and have been eliminated from Stanley Cup Playoff contention.
