It has been more than four weeks since the 2017 NHL Trade Deadline passed on March 1. Some players who were moved have fit in seamlessly on their new teams, and others continue to adjust.
Here's a look at how some of the most notable trades have worked out so far.
Washington Capitals acquire Kevin Shattenkirk
Trade: St. Louis Blues trade D Kevin Shattenkirk and G Pheonix Copley to the Capitals for a first-round pick in the 2017 NHL Draft, conditional draft picks, F Zach Sanford and F Brad Malone.
Analysis: After needing a couple of weeks to get comfortable with the Capitals system and personnel, Shattenkirk has helped take their power play to another level. In winning their past six games, they are 9-for-19 with the man-advantage with Shattenkirk getting the primary assist on three of the goals and being on the ice for eight. In 13 games since the trade, Shattenkirk has 11 assists, six on the power play.
Minnesota Wild acquire Martin Hanzal
Trade: Arizona Coyotes trade F Martin Hanzal, F Ryan White and a fourth-round pick in the 2017 Draft to the Wild for F Grayson Downing, a first-round pick in the 2017 Draft, a second-round pick in 2018 and a conditional pick in 2019.
Analysis: Hanzal (6-foot-6, 226 pounds) was expected to be the final piece to the Wild's Stanley Cup puzzle, sliding in behind Mikko Koivu and Eric Staal to give them a formidable top three at center. However, the Wild are 4-10-2 since the trade and have fallen out of first place in the Western Conference and the Central Division.
Hanzal missed three games with strep throat and has struggled at times, but has seven points (two goals, five assists) in his past nine games and 10 points (two goals, eight assists) in 15 games since the trade.
Los Angeles Kings acquire Ben Bishop and Jarome Iginla
Trades: Tampa Bay Lightning trade G Ben Bishop and a fifth-round pick in the 2017 Draft to the Kings for G Peter Budaj, D Erik Cernak, a seventh-round pick and a conditional pick in the 2017 Draft. Colorado Avalanche trade F Jarome Iginla to the Kings for a conditional fourth-round pick in the 2018 Draft.
Analysis: The Kings raised some eyebrows when they acquired Bishop on Feb. 26 because goaltender Jonathan Quick had returned from a groin injury the previous day and their biggest need was scoring. The Kings have gone 6-6-3 since then and are on the verge of elimination from the Stanley Cup Playoff race. Bishop has two wins (2-2-2) since the trade, the same number Budaj has with the Lightning.
Hoping for another chance to play in the playoffs, Iginla, 39, has helped with five goals in 13 games since joining the Kings, but they've averaged 2.23 goals per game since the deadline.
Montreal Canadiens acquire Jordie Benn
Trade: Dallas Stars trade D Jordie Benn to the Canadiens for D Greg Pateryn and a fourth-round pick in the 2017 Draft.
Analysis: Emerging from the shadow of younger brother Jamie in Dallas, Benn, 29, has solidified the Canadiens third defense pair. Playing with Nathan Beaulieu, he's averaging 16:50 in ice time and has scored two goals in 13 games.
Anaheim Ducks acquire Patrick Eaves
Trade: Stars trade F Patrick Eaves to Anaheim Ducks for a conditional second-round pick in the 2017 Draft.
Analysis: Eaves has provided the scoring depth the Ducks were seeking with seven goals in 15 games since the trade.
San Jose Sharks acquire Jannik Hansen
Trade: Vancouver Canucks trade F Jannik Hansen to the Sharks for F Nikolay Goldobin and a conditional fourth-round pick in the 2017 Draft.
Analysis: The Sharks acquired Hansen to play on their top line with Joe Thornton and Joe Pavelski and he has been an OK fit there with two goals and three assists in 10 games. But the Sharks have struggled, losing seven of their past eight games. Hansen's true value likely will be seen in the playoffs.
Philadelphia Flyers acquire Valtteri Filppula
Trade: Tampa Bay Lightning trade F Valtteri Filppula, a fourth-round pick and a conditional seventh-round pick in the 2017 Draft to the Flyers for D Mark Streit.
Analysis: With Filppula, 33, under contract through 2017-18, this trade might have more value to the Flyers next season; they appear likely to miss the playoffs this season. The deal was also about getting something for Streit, who can become an unrestricted free agent on July 1.
Pittsburgh Penguins acquire Ron Hainsey and Mark Streit
Trades: Carolina Hurricanes trade D Ron Hainsey to the Penguins for F Danny Kristo and a second-round pick in the 2017 Draft. The Lightning trade D Mark Streit to the Penguins for a fourth-round pick in the 2018 Draft.
Analysis: With Kris Letang (upper body), Trevor Daly (knee) and Olli Maatta (hand) sidelined, the Penguins desperately needed help on defense, so they acquired a pair of rentals in Hainsey and Streit. Hainsey has missed the past seven games with an upper-body injury, and the Penguins' injuries have caught up to them in the past week; they've lost four in a row (0-2-2). The good news is Letang is expected to be ready for the playoffs, coach Mike Sullivan said Wednesday.
Ottawa Senators acquire Alexandre Burrows
Trade: Canucks trade F Alexandre Burrows to Ottawa Senators for F Jonathan Dahlen.
Analysis: Burrows started strong with six points (four goals, two assists) in his first six games with the Senators, helping pick up the slack when right wing Mark Stone was injured. But Burrows had no goals and one assist in his next eight games before sitting out Ottawa's 5-1 loss at the Wild on Thursday with an upper-body injury. Burrows' abrasive style potentially will make him more valuable during a long playoff series.
New York Rangers acquire Brendan Smith
Trade: Detroit Red wings trade D Brendan Smith to the Rangers for a third-round pick in the 2017 Draft and a second-round pick in the 2018 Draft.
Analysis: Unwilling to pay the steep price St. Louis wanted for Shattenkirk, the Rangers settled on Smith, who has been a valuable addition. A defenseman with a right-handed shot would have been ideal, but Smith, a lefty, can play either side, which helped when Dan Girardi and Kevin Klein were out with injuries.
Toronto Maple Leafs acquire Brian Boyle
Trade: Lightning trade F Brian Boyle to Maple Leafs for F Byron Froese and a conditional second-round pick in the 2017 Draft.
Analysis: The acquisition of Boyle, 32, has bolstered the Maple Leafs fourth line, given them another reliable penalty-killer and added some experience (100 Stanley Cup Playoff games) to a young team.
