The Vancouver Canucks have traded forward Jannik Hansen to the San Jose Sharks.
Hansen was removed from the Canucks' lineup prior to Tuesday's game against the Detroit Red Wings as a precaution. He has one year remaining on his contract, which comes with a $2.5-million cap hit.
The 30-year-old has six goals and 13 points in 28 games this season but has just one goal in the past 11 contests.
Hansen had spent his entire NHL with the Canucks after the team selected him 287th overall in the 2004 draft.
The trade comes one day after the team sent Alexandre Burrows to the Ottawa Senators for Swedish prospect Jonathan Dahlen.
