RED WINGS (15-16-4) at SENATORS (20-12-3)

8 p.m. ET; RDSI, TSN5, FS-D, NHL.TV

Red Wings team scope

The Detroit Red Wings are coming off a 4-3 loss to the Buffalo Sabres on Tuesday and are 2-5-1 in their past eight games. The Red Wings scored a power-play goal against the Sabres, their first in seven games and are 1-for-28 in that stretch. Detroit's power-play ranks 30th in the NHL (15-for-120, 12.5 percent) and on the road (2-for-45, 4.4 percent). Goaltender Jared Coreau, who is from nearby Perth, Ontario, and grew up an Ottawa Senators fan, will make his third start of the season and second in three games. He won his last start, 4-3 in a shootout against the Florida Panthers on Friday. "He's a big guy with, I think, lots of ability," coach Jeff Blashill said. "I've watched him get so much better over the course of the last three years. He's been an elite player in the American League and what you love to do is wait for guys to become elite in the American League and then come up here and get a chance to show they can do it up here so he's going to get another opportunity to do that."

Senators team scope

The Ottawa Senators had a four-game winning streak ended with a 4-3 loss against the New York Rangers on Tuesday in which the Senators led 2-0 and 3-1. With goaltender Craig Anderson on personal leave and Andrew Hammond out with a high ankle sprain, Mike Condon will play in his 13th straight game and start his fourth game in a row. Forward Zack Smith won't play because of an abdominal strain and his place on a line with Kyle Turris and Bobby Ryan will be taken by Tom Pyatt. Rookie Casey Bailey will go into the lineup on the fourth line. The Senators power play is 27th in the League at home (8-for-61, 13.1 percent). Ottawa will retire the jersey of former captain Daniel Alfredsson in a pre-game ceremony.
