Jets team scope

The Winnipeg Jets are looking to pick up where they left off before the Christmas break. They are 3-1-0 in their past four games and won 4-1 at the Vancouver Canucks on Thursday. The only lineup change is at goalie; Connor Hellebuyck will start instead of Michael Hutchinson. Each has strong numbers against the Chicago Blackhawks, but Hellebuyck started and won the first two games of the season series. "Connor played very well in his two games against Chicago [this season]," coach Paul Maurice said. "I really liked [Hutchinson's] game in [Vancouver]. I liked his compete [level]. He was sharp and very energetic, so we'll see him again." The Jets, who are 6-11-2 on the road, are looking for their third straight win against the Blackhawks. "We've skated well against them, and you have to," Maurice said. "They skate so well when they're on the puck. Being on the right side of the puck is a help, because you're not catching these guys from behind."

Blackhawks team scope

Chicago will get center Artem Anisimov back from an upper-body injury that sidelined him for three games but will not have Marian Hossa. The veteran right wing will miss his second game with an upper-body injury and is likely to miss the first two games of a three-game road trip that will culminate at the 2017 Bridgestone NHL Winter Classic against the St. Louis Blues on Jan. 2. "He should be ready to come back hopefully for the outdoor game," coach Joel Quenneville said Tuesday after the morning skate. Chicago, which is 13-3-4 at home, lost two games prior to Christmas (0-1-1) and is 0-2-0 against the Jets. "They've got a good, young, fast team," defenseman Duncan Keith said. "They've got a little bit of everything. We want to have a better effort than we've had the last couple games against these guys. They've capitalized on chances they've had, and we've got to limit that."
