{allcanada} OHL: Korostelev shootout hero as Sting edge Frontenacs

 

KINGSTON, Ont. — Nikita Korostelev was the only scorer in the shootout as the Sarnia Sting edged the Kingston Frontenacs 4-3 on Friday in Ontario Hockey League action.

Brady Hinz, Troy Lajeunesse and Sean Josling all scored in regulation time for Sarnia (13-9-3). Aidan Hughes made 38 saves for the win and turned away all three skaters he faced in the shootout.

Warren Foegele's power-play goal with 36 seconds left in the third period forced overtime for Kingston (9-12-2).

ICEDOGS 3 WOLVES 1

ST. CATHARINES, Ont. — Johnny Corneil had the winner early in the third period as Niagara reeled off three unanswered goals to rally past Sudbury.

Ryan Mantha and Kyle Langdon also scored for the IceDogs (8-10-5).

Ryan Valentini gave the Wolves (10-14-1) a 1-0 lead early in the second.

SPITFIRES 4 67's 2

OTTAWA — Cole Carter and Connor Corcoran had a goal and an assist apiece to power Windsor past the 67's.

Logan Stanley and Graham Knott chipped in as well for the Spitfires (16-4-3).

Sasha Chmelevski and Ryan Orban replied for Ottawa (11-12-2).

STORM 2 PETES 1

GUELPH, Ont. — The Storm staked themselves to an early lead and held off Peterborough for a close win.

Liam Stevens and James McEwan built a 2-0 lead for Guelph (9-12-3) by the 8:07 mark of the second period.

Semyon Der-Arguchintsev's power-play goal in the third was all the Petes (10-11-4) could muster.

BATTALION 3 BULLDOGS 2

HAMILTON, Ont. — Steve Harland struck twice, including the eventual winner, as North Bay slipped past the Bulldogs.

Daniil Vertiy also scored for the Battalion (13-10-2).

Justin Lemcke and MacKenzie Entwistle supplied the offence for Hamilton (12-9-3).

ATTACK 6 RANGERS 2

KITCHENER, Ont. — Petrus Palmu and Nick Suzuki had two goals apiece as Owen Sound drubbed the Rangers.

Matt Schmalz and Jonah Gadjovich also found the back of the net for the Attack (14-11-1).

Riley Damiani and Adam Mascherin responded for Kitchener (15-8-1).

KNIGHTS 4 COLTS 1

LONDON, Ont. — Cliff Pu scored and added an assist in the Knights' victory over Barrie.

Victor Mete, Max Jones and Owen MacDonald had goals for London (17-3-4) as well.

Cordell James was the lone scorer for the Colts (8-14-3).

GREYHOUNDS 5 STEELHEADS 3

MISSISSAUGA, Ont. — Morgan Frost and Bobby MacIntyre both had power-play goals to lift Sault Ste. Marie over the Steelheads.

Zachary Senyshyn, Liam Hawel and Boris Katchouk also scored for the Greyhounds (17-7-1), who have won six straight.

Brendan Harrogate had a pair of goals for Mississauga (6-10-6) and Owen Tippett put away his 17th of the season.

GENERALS 5 FIREBIRDS 3

OSHAWA, Ont. — Anthony Cirelli had the power-play winner just past the midway point of the third period as the Generals topped Flint.

Eric Henderson also scored on the power play for Oshawa (16-6-2), while Serron Noel, Kenny Huether and Jack Studnicka rounded out the attack.

Everett Clark, Jalen Smereck and Kole Sherwood did the scoring the Firebirds (13-10-1).
