Canucks team scope
The Vancouver Canucks have lost six consecutive games after a 4-0-1 start. They are playing their third game of a six-game road trip without scoring a goal, including a 3-0 loss at the Montreal Canadiens and a 1-0 loss at the Ottawa Senators. Vancouver has been shut out four times in its past five games; after scoring 15 goals in its first six games, it has two in its past five. "We've got to find ways to score and we know that," Canucks coach Willie Desjardins said. "I think if we get some, we'll get a little bit of life and it will change things." Goaltender Ryan Miller will start. He's 1-4-0 despite having a 1.79 goals-against average.
Maple Leafs team scope
The Toronto Maple Leafs are coming off back-to-back victories for the first time this season. "I think we're happy with the way we've played over the last two games and we have something to build off now," Maple Leafs defenseman Morgan Rielly said. "We want to keep it going. We're a team that wants to keep putting these streaks together." Toronto leads the NHL with 33.8 shots per game. Goaltender Frederik Andersen will start. He's 6-1-3 with a 1.16 goals-against average and .954 save percentage in 10 career games against Vancouver. Rookie forward Auston Matthews has no points in his past five games.
