{allcanada} OHL: Mascherin scores winner, Rangers beat Spirit in OT

 

KITCHENER, Ont. — Adam Mascherin scored 2:15 into overtime and added two assists as the Kitchener Rangers edged the visiting Saginaw Spirit 6-5 on Sunday in Ontario Hockey League action.

Jeremy Bracco and Dylan Seitz matched their linemate with a goal and two helpers of their own as the Rangers (10-3-1) won their fourth game in a row. Joseph Garreffa, Cedric Schiemenz and Dylan Di Perna also scored.

Mike Davies, Kris Bennett, Cole Coskey, Hayden Hodgson and Mitchell Stephens found the back of the net for the Spirit (2-9-3), who are on a three-game slide.

Dawson Carty made 35 saves for the win as Brendan Bonello kicked out 24-of-30 shots in a losing cause.

Kitchener went 1 for 6 on the power play while Saginaw failed to score on five chances with the man advantage.

GREYHOUNDS 5 STORM 2

GUELPH, Ont. — Bobby MacIntyre had two goals and two assists and Matthew Villalta made 31 saves as Sault Ste. Marie downed the Storm.

Conor Timmins, Boris Katchouk and Tim Gettinger also scored for the Greyhounds (10-5-1).

Guelph (6-8-2) got its offence from Albert Michnac and Cedric Ralph. Liam Herbst stopped 25-of-29 shots in defeat.

BULLDOGS 4 FRONTENACS 2

KINGSTON, Ont. — Matthew Strome had two goals and an assist and Kaden Fulcher made 21 saves as Hamilton doubled up the Frontenacs.

Jack Hanley and Justin Lemke rounded out the offence for the Bulldogs (8-5-1).

Warren Foegele and Jason Roberston scored for Kingston (6-7-1), which got a 29-save outing from Jeremy Helvig.

FIREBIRDS 8 67's 6

OTTAWA — Luke Kirwan scored four times and set up one more and Mathieu Henderson had a goal and two helpers as Flint got past the 67's.

Ryan Moore, Cullen Mercer and Nicholas Caamano also scored for the Firebirds (8-7-1). Garrett Forrest stopped 8-of-11 shots in 44:11 of relief for the win. Connor Hicks started in goal and allowed three goals on seven shots before getting yanked.

Sasha Chmelevski and Patrick White had a pair of goals apiece for Ottawa (5-8-2) while Noel Hoefenmayer and Artur Tyanulin added the others. Olivier Lafreniere was beaten six times on 32 shots before Leo Lazarev took over midway in the third. Lazarev took the loss after stopping 5-of-6 shots in 12:15 of relief.

BATTALION 6 STING 4

SARNIA, Ont. — Brett McKenzie had two goals and an assist and Brent Moran made 33 saves as North Bay beat the Sting.

Brady Lyle, Justin Brazeau, Steve Harland and Maurizio Colella also scored for the Battalion (8-6-1).

Troy Lajeunesse, Ryan McGregor, Adam Ruzicka and Anthony Salinitri responded for Sarnia (9-5-1). Justin Fazio turned away 23-of-28 shots in defeat.

GENERALS 3 STEELHEADS 2 (OT)

OSHAWA, Ont. — Jeremy Brodeur made 41 saves and Medric Mercier scored 2:38 into the extra period as the Generals slipped past Mississauga.

Eric Henderson and Danil Antropov scored in regulation for Oshawa (9-5-1).

Nicolas Hague and Owen Tippet had goals for the Steelheads (5-6-3), who got a 29-save performance from Matthew Mancina.
