Montreal Canadiens forward Torrey Mitchell had to leave his team's pre-season game against the Ottawa Senators with an upper-body injury on Saturday.
Mitchell was hit by the stick of Senators defenceman Fredrik Claesson, who was being tied up by Paul Byron, while skating through the neutral zone in the first period.
He went down and did not return for the second, before the Canadiens ruled him out for good.
The 31-year-old had 11 goals and eight assists in 71 games last season.
