Montreal Canadiens left wing Andrew Shaw will have a phone hearing with the NHL Department of Player Safety on Thursday for a hit on Washington Capitals defenseman Connor Hobbs.
The incident occurred 17:50 into the second period of a preseason game at Bell Centre on Tuesday when Shaw checked Hobbs into the end boards.
Shaw received a major penalty for boarding, a major penalty for fighting with Capitals forward Nathan Walker, a 10-minute misconduct and a game misconduct. Hobbs remained in the game, a 5-2 victory for the Canadiens.
The following grounds are being considered for supplemental discipline: boarding. However, the Department of Player Safety retains the right to make adjustments to the infraction upon review.
