The CFL has tweaked the league's rules on coach's challenges to cut down the number of yellow flags thrown by head coaches.
Effective immediately, an unsuccessful first challenge will result in the loss of a timeout. If a team is successful in their challenge, they will keep their timeout.
The rule previously only applied to team's second challenge of the game, making the first challenge used essentially free.
The CFL policy now mirrors that of the NFL, though the CFL has significantly more challengeable plays.
