The Calgary Flames have hired former Ottawa Senators head coach Dave Cameron as an assistant coach.
Cameron was fired in April after his first full season behind with the Senators.
Cameron will join Glen Gulutzan's staff and serve alongside Martin Gelinas, Jamie Pringle, Jordan Sigalet and Paul Jerrard, who was also named to the staff on Wednesday
Cameron, 57, was the 11th coach in Senators' franchise history, posting a 70-50-17 record behind the Senators bench. He took over as head coach Dec. 8, 2014 after the struggling team fired Paul MacLean. He had an immediate impact as the Senators finished the regular season 43-26-13 (after an 11-11-5 start under MacLean) and overcame a 14-point deficit to clinch a Wild Card spot. The team was eliminated in first round of postseason in six games by the Montreal Canadiens.
The 57-year-old was in his fourth season as a Senators assistant coach when he was promoted in December, 2014.
