The Edmonton Eskimos acquired linebacker Alex Hoffman-Ellis from the Hamilton Tiger-Cats for a conditional eighth-round selection in the 2018 draft.
The 26-year-old signed with the Tiger-cats this past offseason after spending the past two years with the BC Lions.
Hoffman-Ellis made a name for himself when Solomon Elimimian suffered a season-ending Achilles injury in August of 2015. The Washington State product had 56 tackles and three interceptions in 17 games last season.
In his short time with the Ticats, the Los Angeles native was a healthy scratch in their Week 1 contest against the Toronto Argonauts.
The defending Grey Cup Champions' defense were unable to stop the Ottawa Redblacks offense in Week 1. They allowed a total of 590 yards, 543 of which came from the arms of Henry Burris and Trevor Harris. This was all in the debut of Ottawa's offensive coordinator Jamie Elizondo.
