The Vancouver Canucks added some depth to the bottom of their roster, signing forward Jayson Megna to a one-year, one-way contract worth $600,000.
Megna, 26, played sparingly for the New York Rangers last season and spent the majority of the year with the AHL's Hartford Wolf Pack, where he scored 15 goals and 29 assists in 68 games.
"Jayson brings a combination of size, speed and skill to our team adding depth to our forward group this season," Canucks GM Jim Benning said in a team statement. "He has the ability to catch the opposition off-guard with deceptive speed and brings a willingness to play in the difficult areas around the net and in the corners. We're pleased to be able to add Jayson to the team."
The Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., native has appeared in 54 NHL games throughout his career with the Rangers and Pittsburgh Penguins, scoring six goals with six assists.
Megna was originally signed by Pittsburgh as a free agent on Aug. 1, 2012.
