{allcanada} PIT BOX: New Era Begins In Canada

WHAT TO WATCH FOR

• "Everything is new" is the story for the 2016 NASCAR stock car championship season in Canada. The offseason brought a new entitlement sponsor in Pinty's Delicious Foods Inc., and the new look NASCAR Pinty's Series will take the track this weekend with some new championship contenders. Scott Steckly, who collected his fourth championship last year, will be back at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park for the Clarington 200, but this time in an owner's role. The 44-year-old from Milverton, Ontario, will field the No. 22 for Kaz Grala this weekend. Defending race winner Gary Klutt, 23, is one of the series rising young stars and finished fifth in the championship en route to the Jostens Rookie of the Year Award. Ten rookies are entered this weekend, including Pier-Luc Oullette, Kevin Lacroix and teenager Cayden Lapcevich. Ouellette is again filling in for Alex Tagliani, while Lacroix won twice last year running a partial schedule. Jason Hathaway came up just short last year in the title chase after winning at CTMP in the fall, while former champions Andrew Ranger and LP Dumoulin expect to be in the hunt again.

• Todd Gilliland and Ryan Partridge have taken turns visiting Victory Lane so far in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series West. They'll have plenty of challengers as the series heads to Orange Show Speedway in San Bernardino, California, for the first visit to the quarter-mile oval. Partridge would like nothing better than to get the win in the Sunrise Ford 150 for his sponsor, Sunrise Ford. He finally got the win last time out at Arizona's Tucson Raceway after a pair of runner-up finishes. Gilliland, who won the first two races of the season, was second to Partridge at Tucson and holds a four-point cushion. Defending champion Chris Eggleston, as well as young rising stars Cole Rouse, Riley Herbst, Noah Gragson, Julia Landauer and Gracin Raz are all ready to break into one of the top two spots.
