{allcanada} Giovinco adds two more Toronto FC records

TORONTO - Chalk up two more Toronto FC records for Sebastian Giovinco.

The Atomic Ant has been fouled 22 times this season, upping his MLS career total to a Toronto-record 112 in 41 games. Only Sporting Kansas City forward Dom Dwyer has been fouled more often (23 times in 10 games) this season.

The Italian star also moved past Dwayne De Rosario in career shots on goal by a TFC player (86) in Sunday's 2-1 loss in Portland. The two had been tied at 85.

Canadian midfielder Jonathan Osorio held the Toronto record for fouls suffered at 97 going into this season. He has been fouled eight times this season, bringing his total to 105 in 90 games.

Giovinco will have to take significantly more damage before he nears the league all-time record for fouls suffered. Davy Arnaud, now retired, holds that at 746 (in 351 games).

The Italian can take over another record this Saturday when Toronto (3-3-2) holds its home opener against FC Dallas (5-3-2) after spending eight weeks on the road due to renovations at BMO Field.

Giovinco's next goal will be his 29th in MLS play in Toronto colours, moving him past De Rosario into first place in the franchise record book. De Rosario still leads with 33 goals in all competitions, adding in Canadian Championship and CONCACAF Champions League play. Giovinco has 29 goals in all competitions.

After tying Columbus forward Kei Kamara for the league lead with 22 goals last season, Giovinco has had a hand in every Toronto goal this season, scoring six and assisting on three.

Giovinco's Toronto club records include career assists (19), game-winning goals (10), penalty-kick goals (5), goals per game (0.7), hat tricks (2), multi-goal games (six), and shots (225).

In 2015, the Italian won the league's Landon Donovan MVP Trophy, Newcomer of the Year and Golden Boot as the top scorer in MLS.

He also set an MLS record for most goals (22) and assists (16) combined in a single season, becoming the first player in MLS history to record at least 20 goals and 10 assists in a single season.

He was involved in two or more goals in 12 games during the 2015 regular season, the most of any player in MLS history. And he broke a 15-year-old MLS single-season record for shots in a season (181).
