{allcanada} Canucks sign former Maple Leafs draft pick Tom Nilsson

The Vancouver Canucks signed defenceman Tom Nilsson to a one year, two-way contract on Thursday.

The 22-year-old had one goal and six assists in 37 games this season for Frolunda HC of the Swedish Hockey League. Nilsson added a goal and an assist in seven playoff games.

The six foot, 183-pound Swede played the 2014-15 season for the AHL's Toronto Marlies, scoring once and chipping in with five assists in 44 games.

The Maple Leafs drafted Nilsson in the fourth round of the 2011 NHL draft.

Nilsson is the second defenceman the Canucks have acquired in two days, after they traded for Erik Gudbranson and a draft pick from the Florida Panthers on Wednesday night for forward Jared McCann and two draft picks.
