{allcanada} Perry, Dumba, Brassard added to Canada’s world championship roster

 

Corey Perry, Mathew Dumba and Derick Brassard have been added to Team Canada's roster for the upcoming 2016 IIHF world championship.

"Fans know these three players well for their success in the NHL, but it's important to remember all three also bring international experience that will serve our team well as we begin our quest to defend gold," Team Canada's head coach Bill Peters said in a press release Thursday.

Perry, whose Anaheim Ducks were eliminated by the Nashville Predators Wednesday, is a two-time Olympic gold medallist and a staple on most Team Canada rosters.

Dumba, a defenceman on the Minnesota Wild, has represented Canada at the under-18s and world juniors, while New York Rangers centre Brassard won a silver medal with Canada at the 2005 WJC.

Canada opens the tournament -- which takes place in Moscow and St. Petersburg, Russia -- against the United States next Friday.

Players already named to the team include: Connor McDavid, Taylor Hall, Matt Duchene, Ryan O'Reilly, Max Domi, Brendan Gallagher,Boone Jenner, Mark Scheifele, Mark Stone, Sam Reinhart, Brad Marchand, Cody Ceci, Ben Hutton, Ryan Murray, Morgan Rielly and Chris Tanev.

Hockey Canada also announced Sean Burke has been added to the staff as director of player development.
