{allcanada} Canucks prospect Brock Boeser returning to NCAA

Vancouver Canucks prospect Brock Boeser is heading back to school.

The 2015 first-round pick tweeted Monday that he's returning to the University of North Dakota next season instead of signing with the Canucks.

Boeser had a goal and three assists Saturday as North Dakota defeated top-seeded Quinnipiac 5-1 for its eighth NCAA hockey championship.

The 19-year-old right winger led the Fighting Hawks with 27 goals and 33 assists in 42 games this season.

"[Boeser] went in there as a freshman, and you don't know how these guys are going to adapt to the college game and the speed and the strength of the players, but the coaching staff did an excellent job with him this year," Vancouver GM Jim Benning told Sportsnet's Thomas Drance in March.

The Canucks drafted the six-foot 191-pounder 23rd overall.
