CANUCKS (28-36-13) at DUCKS (43-23-10)

TV: 10 p.m. ET; SNP, FS-SD, PRIME, NHL.TV

Season series: The Anaheim Ducks are 2-0-2 against the Vancouver Canucks. Sami Vantanan has two goals and two assists to lead Anaheim in scoring; Andrew Cogliano and Mike Santorelli each has three assists, Ryan Getzlaf and Ryan Kesler each has a goal and two assists, and Rickard Rakell has two goals and an assist. Jannik Hansen (goal, assist) and Daniel Sedin (two assists) lead Vancouver with two points.

Canucks team scope: Vancouver ended a nine-game losing streak (0-8-1) with a 4-2 win at the San Jose Sharks on Thursday. Goalie Jacob Markstrom likely will start after Ryan Miller made 32 saves against San Jose. Hansen scored his 20th goal to give the Canucks the lead with 5:03 remaining. "Nine games is a lot of games to go between wins," Hansen said. "It was kind of starting to weigh on the team a lot of different ways. You don't want to get into where it's OK losing in any way. And we have been starting to play some better games, playing some good teams, but we found ways to lose. Today, we found a way to win." Rookie forward Jake Virtanen will serve the second of a two-game suspension for a late hit against Sharks defenseman Roman Polak on Tuesday. Defensemen Christopher Tanev (upper body) and Nikita Tryamkin each returned to the lineup Thursday; Tanev missed six games, and Tryamkin missed one.

Ducks team scope: Rakell (flu) and defensemen Josh Manson (undisclosed), Kevin Bieksa (upper body) and Simon Despres (undisclosed) are day-to-day. None played in an 8-3 win against the Calgary Flames on Wednesday. Anaheim did not practice Thursday. The Ducks, who have won three in a row and five of seven (5-1-1), are 31-8-4 since Dec. 26, the best record in the NHL. They are one point behind the Los Angeles Kings for first place in the Pacific Division. "With the start we had, no one expected us to be where we're at right now," forward Jakob Silfverberg told the Ducks website Wednesday after the win against the Flames moved them into first place. "We've been doing some good things lately. We've been playing good hockey. There's a big benefit being first." Silfverberg scored twice and has 11 points (nine goals) in the past nine games. Corey Perry has three goals and three assists during a season-high five-game point streak.
