{allcanada} OHL: Foegele scores four times, Kingston takes 2-0 series lead on Oshawa

 

KINGSTON, Ont. - Warren Foegele scored four times and Michael Dal Colle had five assists as the Kingston Frontenacs downed the Oshawa Generals 7-3 on Saturday in Ontario Hockey League playoff action.

Lawson Crouse added a pair of goals for the Frontenacs, who took a 2-0 lead in their best-of-seven first-round matchup, and Spencer Watson scored once and set up three more.

Domenic Commisso struck twice for the Generals, who got their other goal from Joe Manchurek.

Kington's Jeremy Helvig made 26 saves for the win. Jeremy Brodeur allowed three goals on 14 shots in a period of work for Oshawa before giving way Justin Nichols, who stopped 17-of-20 shots the rest of the way.

Both clubs went 1 for 5 on the power play.

RANGERS 6 SPITFIRES 4

KITCHENER, Ont. — Brandon Robinson had two goals and an assist and Dawson Carty made 31 saves as the Rangers took a 2-0 lead over Windsor in first-round action.

Miles Liberati, Nick Magyar, David Miller and Connor Bunnaman also scored for Kitchener.

Mikhail Sergachev scored twice for the Spitfires while Jalen Chatfield and Mads Eller added a goal apiece. Mario Culina turned away 20-of-25 shots in defeat.

ATTACK 2 KNIGHTS 0

LONDON, Ont. — Michael McNiven made 23 saves as Owen Sound blanked the Knights to take Game 2 of its first-round matchup.

Josh Sterk and Kevin Hancock, into an empty net, scored for the Attack, who evened the series at a game apiece.

Tyler Parsons stopped 27-of-28 shots for London.

ICEDOGS 5 67's 3

ST CATHARINES, Ont. — Brendan Perlini scored twice and Josh Ho-Sang had a goal and an assist as Niagara downed Ottawa for a 2-0 first-round series lead.

Christopher Paquette and Pvel Jenys also scored for the IceDogs. Alex Nedeljkovic made 24 saves for the victory.

Dante Salituro, Nevin Guy and Travis Barron supplied the scoring for the 67's. Leo Lazarev turned aside 26-of-30 shots in defeat.

COLTS 5 STEELHEADS 2

BARRIE, Ont. — Dylan Sadowy had a pair of goals and Julius Nattinen scored once and added two helpers as the Colts toppled Mississauga to take Game 1 of their first-round series.

Kevin Labanc and Greg DiTomaso also scored for Barrie while Mackenzie Blackwood earned the win with a 23-save outing.

Jack Flinn gave the Steelheads a chance by stopping 37-of-40 shots. Damian Bourne and Josh Burnside found the back of the net for Mississauga.
