WINNIPEG -- The Florida Panthers will get their first look at new additions Jiri Hudler and Teddy Purcell when they visit the Winnipeg Jets at MTS Centre on Tuesday.
Florida general manager Dale Tallon acquired Hudler from the Calgary Flames and Purcell from the Edmonton Oilers in trades leading up to the 2016 NHL Trade Deadline.
Hudler will skate on the left side of a line with Aleksander Barkov and leading scorer Jaromir Jagr. Purcell likely will play with rookie Kyle Rau and Scott Bjugstad.
"I'm just going to try to adapt to [Barkov and Jagr], find an open spot and play hard," Hudler said. "I've played with Jaromir before, so I've known him for a long time, and hopefully it is going to work out."
"It will be fun," Panthers coach Gerard Gallant said. "The trade deadline is always an interesting day for your hockey [team]. We've got some experienced guys, so we're excited about that."
Winnipeg coach Paul Maurice expects an early push from Florida's additions.
"On a one-day event, there will be questions of chemistry for a very short period of time, but [they are] very intelligent forwards that have come in there and can jump," Maurice said. "But whenever you put some guys like that into a lineup, they walk in the room, there is a buzz. Everybody wants to show what they can do, so they'll be rolling."
Goaltender Roberto Luongo will start for the Panthers and oppose Ondrej Pavelec.
Panthers backup goaltender Al Montoya sustained an upper-body injury Sunday against the Minnesota Wild and will not dress. Mike McKenna, recalled on an emergency basis from Portland of the American Hockey League on Monday, will back up Luongo. Center Derek MacKenzie (upper body) also missed the game at Minnesota.
Winnipeg forward Mathieu Perreault missed the morning skate after the birth of his child, but will be in the lineup, Maurice confirmed.
No lineup changes are planned for the Jets, who are last in the Central Division. With defenseman Adam Pardy claimed on waivers by Edmonton on Monday, defenseman Paul Postma will take a regular role on the Winnipeg blue line after being limited to five games this season.
"It's nice knowing [Maurice] has a little faith in me, and I'm going to get an opportunity to play here," Postma said. "I've been patient. I've been waiting for it, and I'm going to try to make the most of it."
