DUCKS (40-23-9) at MAPLE LEAFS (26-35-11)
TV: 7:30 p.m. ET; PRIME, FS-SD, SNO, NHL-TV
Season series: The Toronto Maple Leafs defeated the Anaheim Ducks 4-0 at Honda Center on Jan. 6. Forward PA Parenteau scored two goals and Jonathan Bernier made 39 saves for the shutout.
Ducks team scope: Anaheim did not practice Wednesday. Forwards David Perron (shoulder), Chris Stewart (jaw) and Nate Thompson (upper body) and defensemen Sami Vatanen (upper body) will not play Thursday. Forward Shawn Horcoff will play his 1,000th NHL game. The Ducks are coming off a 4-3 loss at the Montreal Canadiens on Tuesday. The loss cost the Ducks a chance to clinch a Stanley Cup Playoff spot. "We need to clean up with puck management," defenseman Cam Fowler told the Ducks website after the game. "When we do that and we're able to breakout clean, we're a very difficult team to play against. We didn't do that [Tuesday] and it ended up in the back of our net. We'll clean those things up."
Maple Leafs team scope: Goalie Garret Sparks will start Thursday. Center Tyler Bozak, who has been out since Feb. 6 because of a concussion, is expected to play. He centered a line between Connor Brown and Josh Leivo at practice Wednesday. Forwards Leo Komarov (lower body), Brad Boyes (upper body), Nikita Soshnikov (upper body) and Peter Holland (undisclosed) are not expected to play. Komarov and Soshnikov did not practice Wednesday but skated on their own. Bernier did not practice but coach Mike Babcock said Bernier will be available to back up Sparks. Toronto has won four of its past five (4-1-0). During that stretch it's allowed eight goals and has killed off 13 of 14 penalties.
