{allcanada} Canadiens' Subban out against Ducks

Montreal Canadiens defenseman P.K. Subban took part in the morning skate Tuesday but will not play against the Anaheim Ducks (7:30 p.m. ET; FS-SD, PRIME, RDS, SNE, NHL.TV), Canadiens coach Michel Therrien said.

Subban wore a light-blue non-contact jersey during practice.

"We're hoping to see certain players back over the course of the week," Therrien told the Canadiens website. "P.K. had a high-intensity workout with Pierre Allard (strength and conditioning coach). He looked good on the ice. In the end it's always the player, in conjunction with the doctors, who decides when they're ready to return. He won't play tonight, and I can't guarantee that he'll be back in the next game either."

Subban will miss his sixth straight game because of a neck injury sustained March 10 against the Buffalo Sabres. Subban was hit by teammate Alexei Emelin and had to be removed from the ice on a stretcher. He was taken to Montreal General Hospital but released later that night.

The Canadiens are 1-4-0 in Subban's absence.

Teammate David Desharnais also was on the ice Tuesday. He has missed the past 16 games because of a broken foot sustained Feb. 15 against the Arizona Coyotes. Desharnais also wore a non-contact jersey at practice Tuesday and will not be in the lineup against the Ducks.
