CANADIENS (30-28-5) at DUCKS (34-19-8)

TV: 10 p.m. ET; FS-W, RDS, SNE, NHL.TV

Season series: The Anaheim Ducks swept two games from the Montreal Canadiens last season, winning 2-1 at Bell Centre on Dec. 18, 2014, and 3-1 at Honda Center on March 4. Center Rickard Rakell and defenseman Hampus Lindholm each had a goal and an assist for Anaheim. Forwards David Desharnais and Alex Galchenyuk each had a goal and an assist for Montreal.

Canadiens team scope: Montreal did not practice Tuesday after a 6-2 loss to the San Jose Sharks on Monday and will play the second of a four-game road trip. Forward Stefan Matteau, acquired Monday from the New Jersey Devils for forward Devante Smith-Pelly before the 2016 NHL Trade Deadline, was suspended two games for an illegal head check in an American Hockey League game Sunday while playing for Albany against Bridgeport. The suspension will only take effect if the Canadiens reassign Matteau to their AHL affiliate in St. John's. "I'm still young and will continue to develop my game," Matteau told the Canadiens website. "I see myself as a goal-scorer that can play physical too." Matteau, son of former NHL forward Stephane Matteau, has 44 games of NHL experience. The Canadiens have lost five of eight (3-4-1).

Ducks team scope: Anaheim acquired forward Brandon Pirri from the Florida Panthers and forward Jamie McGinn from the Buffalo Sabres on Monday. Injured defenseman Simon Despres (undisclosed) did not practice Tuesday. Center Ryan Kesler, after taking a puck to the face late in a 4-2 win against the Los Angeles Kings on Sunday, will play. Forward Shawn Horcoff practiced for the first time since being suspended 20 games for violating the NHL/NHLPA Performance Enhancing Substances Program and is eligible to return on March 11. "Any time you go through something like this, the hardest part is being away from the guys," Horcoff told the Ducks website. "I was allowed to use the facilities and work out and keep myself in shape. I just wasn't allowed to be in practices or around the team until this point. I really worked hard to make sure I was ready when I came back." Center Ryan Getzlaf was the League's First Star for February; he had six goals and 20 points in 14 games. The Ducks have won eight straight games.
