EDMONTON - Jack Walker struck twice and Tyler Soy had a goal and three assists as the Victoria Royals toppled the Edmonton Oil Kings 6-1 on Monday to take over top spot in the Western Hockey League.
Joe Hicketts added a goal and an assist for the Royals (43-16-6), who have gone 6-0-1 in their last seven games to move one point lead ahead of the Kelowna Rockets for first place in the WHL. Vladimir Bobylev and Jared Dmytriw rounded out the offence with a goal apiece.
Dysin Mayo was the lone scorer for the Oil Kings (27-30-7).
Victoria's Coleman Vollrath made 24 saves for the win as Patrick Dea stopped 25-of-31 shots in a losing cause.
The Royals went 2 for 5 on the power play while the Oil Kings failed to score on two chances with the man advantage.

REBELS 2 PATS 1
REGINA — Trevor Martin made 27 saves and Red Deer did its scoring in the first period en route to downing the Pats.
Evan Polei and Jake DeBrusk built up a 2-0 lead in the first for the Rebels (38-22-3).
Sam Steel responded in the third period for Regina (30-26-7), which is on a three-game slide. Tyler Brown kicked out 32-of-34 shots in defeat.
