{allcanada} Ex-Pan Am official Vansen named Rugby Canada CEO

TORONTO — Allen Vansen, a former senior official at last summer's Pan American Games, has been named chief executive officer of Rugby Canada.

The native of Corner Brook, N.L., was executive vice-president of operations, sport & venue management of the Toronto 2015 Pan/Parapan American Games. He was also vice-president of workforce operations & integration for the Vancouver Organizing Committee at the 2010 Winter Olympics.

Rugby Canada has been without a CEO since Graham Brown stepped down after last fall's World Cup to become CEO of Canadian Interuniversity Sport.

Brown was named COO of Rugby Canada in July 2002 and was appointed CEO in 2003.

Interim CEO Mark Lemmon returns to his role as chief marketing officer.

Rugby Canada remains in the hunt for a men's head coach to succeed Kieran Crowley, who quit to take over Italian club Benetton Treviso.
