EDMONTON -- Victor Hedman had a goal and two assists in the third period to help the Tampa Bay Lightning rally for a 3-2 victory against the Edmonton Oilers at Rexall Place on Friday.
Steven Stamkos scored the game-winner with 4:09 remaining.
Nikita Kucherov scored the tying goal for Tampa Bay (20-17-4), and goaltender Ben Bishop made 24 saves.
On each Lightning goal, the puck bounced off an Oilers player and past goaltender Cam Talbot.
Justin Schultz and Benoit Pouliot scored for Edmonton (17-22-3), which had won two in a row. Talbot made 23 saves.
Schultz scored at 15:20 of the first period to give Edmonton a 1-0 lead.
The Oilers defenseman took a pass inside the Lightning blue line, worked his way to the net and took a backhand shot on goal. Bishop made the save, but Schultz was first to the rebound and he lifted the puck over the Tampa Bay goaltender.
Late in the period, Leon Draisaitl had an excellent opportunity to extend the Oilers lead on a scramble in front. He had the puck come to him at the side of the net with Bishop out of position, but Hedman dove across the goal line and was able to knock Drasaitl's shot away with 7.9 seconds left.
Pouliot made it 2-0 at 3:38 of the second period on the power play. He deflected a shot by Ryan Nugent-Hopkins past Bishop. The goal initially was awarded to Nugent-Hopkins, but then given to Pouliot for his ninth of the season.
Mark Letestu came close to giving the Oilers a three-goal lead on an ensuing power play in the second period, but his shot hit the crossbar.
Late in the second, Stamkos had a good opportunity to cut into the Edmonton lead, getting a hard one-timer off from the slot, but Talbot made the save.
Kucherov scored 3:01 into the third period to cut the Oilers lead to 2-1. He took a pass from Hedman at the Edmonton blue line, and his shot went through traffic, hit Edmonton defenseman Brandon Davidson and bounced past Talbot.
The goal came moments after Ondrej Palat hit the post on a shot from the slot.
Hedman tied it 2-2 at 14:50 when his centering pass was deflected by Oilers left wing Taylor Hall into the net. Hedman was attempting to pass the puck over to Palat on a 2-on-1 rush, but Hall, who was backchecking on the play, had it go off his stick into the net.
Stamkos scored the winner when his centering pass hit off the skate of Oilers defenseman Darnell Nurse and got past Talbot.
The Lightning continue with the third of a four-game road trip Saturday at the Vancouver Canucks.
The Oilers host the Florida Panthers on Sunday to conclude a six-game homestand.
