TORONTO - Maicer Izturis signed a minor-league contract with the Toronto Blue Jays on Friday and was invited to Major League spring training.

The 35-year-old Izturis returns for his fourth season with the Blue Jays.

Izturis, from Barquisimeto, Venezuela, has not appeared in a MLB game since April 13, 2014 recovering from left knee surgery in 2014 and shoulder surgery in 2015.

The switch-hitter has a .269 career batting average with 39 home runs and 334 runs batted in 11 seasons with Montreal, Anaheim and Toronto.
