The Kingston Frontenacs have acquired forward Michael Dal Colle from the Oshawa Generals in exchange for rookie Robbie Burt, a 2017 second-round pick, a 2018 third-round selection, a second in 2019 and a third in 2022.
Dal Colle is expected to suit up for Kingston Friday night against the Peterborough Petes.
"We want to welcome Michael to the Kingston Frontenacs," general manager Doug Gilmour said in a release. "We couldn't be more thrilled to add him to the group we have assembled and we are excited to have his experience on our roster."
Dal Colle, selected fifth overall by the New York Islanders in the 2014 NHL draft, had 42 goals and 93 points for Oshawa last season and played a big role in the Generals' run to an OHL title and Memorial Cup victory in 2015. However, the 19-year-old Woodbridge, Ont., native has struggled this season, notching just eight goals in 30 games and Oshawa is sitting ninth in the OHL's Eastern Conference with 31 points.
Dal Colle was also cut by Canada's world junior team last month, marking the second straight year he failed to make the team.
"Michael has done it all for this club," Generals vice president and general manager Roger Hunt said. "He has served as an assistant captain, a captain and has led this team to the 2015 Memorial Cup."
Dal Colle joins former Generals teammate Stephen Desrocher on the Eastern Conference-leading Frontenacs, who was dealt to Kingston on Nov. 3.
In return for their captain, Oshawa gets a six-foot, 209-pound right-winger in Burt, who was selected 11th overall by the Frontenacs in the 2015 OHL draft. He has two goals and four points in 24 games for Kingston this season.
