Season series: The Calgary Flames and Carolina Hurricanes split two games last season. Sean Monahan scored twice and Jonas Hiller made 16 saves for the Flames in a 5-0 victory Oct. 23, 2014 at Scotiabank Saddledome. Justin Faulk had a goal and two assists, and Jeff Skinner had a goal and an assist for the Hurricanes in a 4-1 win Nov. 10, 2014 at PNC Arena.

Flames team scope: Left wing Michael Ferland (upper body) won't play after colliding with Columbus Blue Jackets forward William Karlsson on Thursday. Flames coach Bob Hartley said David Jones will take Ferland's place in the lineup. "[Ferland] is good, he's good," Hartley told the Flames website. "It's upper body. He's not good to be on the ice but he should be back on the ice in the next couple days. It's not going to be long-term." Hartley said he is hopeful Ferland, who has two goals and six assists in 37 games, can return against the Dallas Stars on Monday. Center Lance Bouma, sidelined the past four games with a leg laceration, took line rushes at practice Saturday and is likely to play. Goaltender Karri Ramo (16-14-1, 2.59 goals-against average, .910 save percentage) will start.

Hurricanes team scope: Center Riley Nash is dealing with flu-like symptoms, and defenseman Brett Pesce has a lower-body injury, coach Bill Peters said. Each player is considered day-to-day, according to the Raleigh News & Observer, and will be evaluated Sunday morning. Carolina won't have a pregame skate. The Hurricanes are coming off a 4-1 home loss to the New York Rangers on Friday. "It's always the next game and the next day," forward Jordan Staal told the Hurricanes website after the loss. "We're a team that's going to show up tomorrow ready to work and move forward." This is the second game of a three-game homestead prior to the All-Star break.
