Toronto FC captain Michael Bradley has been named the U.S. Soccer Male Player of the Year.

Bradley had three goals and six assists in 18 matches for the United States in international competition in 2015. He was captain of the squad for 16 of those games.

"We are very happy for Michael, his contributions for both club and country certainly speak for themselves," said Toronto FC general manager Tim Bezbatchenko in a release. "On behalf of everyone at Toronto FC, we congratulate Michael on this great achievement."

In 25 regular season games with Toronto FC, Bradley had five goals and six assists. He led the team to its first-ever playoff appearance.

It's the first time that Bradley has been named U.S. player of the year.
