{allcanada} Senators' Michalek out indefinitely with broken finger

Ottawa Senators forward Milan Michalek is out indefinitely with a fractured index finger on his right hand, the Senators announced Wednesday.

Michalek sustained the injury Tuesday in the second period of the Senators' 4-2 loss to the Philadelphia Flyers when he was hit with a shot by Flyers defenseman Radko Gudas. Coach Dave Cameron said Michalek would be sidelined long-term following the game.

Michalek, selected by the San Jose Sharks with the sixth pick of the 2003 NHL Draft, has five goals and eight points in 24 games this season, and 436 points in 721 NHL games with the Sharks and Senators.

Ottawa also lost forward Mika Zibanejad on Tuesday when he was hit in the face by Gudas' right arm off a faceoff early in the third period. He was kept out of the remainder of the game for precautionary reasons and his condition will be updated Wednesday.
