CANUCKS (9-9-7) at KINGS (14-8-1)

TV: SNP, FS-W

Season series: The Vancouver Canucks defeated the Los Angeles Kings 3-0 at Staples Center on Oct. 13. Vancouver defenseman Alexander Edler had a goal and an assist, and goalie Ryan Miller made 15 saves to earn his only shutout this season.

Canucks team scope: Goalie Jacob Markstrom likely will start after Miller allowed four goals on 29 shots before being pulled in a 4-0 loss to the Anaheim Ducks on Monday. "That was the furthest to being in a game as we've had all year," captain Henrik Sedin said. "Our energy level wasn't there." Vancouver is 1-1-1 on its four-game road trip. Rookie forward Jake Virtanen's upper-body injury is not serious, but it's unlikely he'll play, coach Willie Desjardins said. Virtanen, the No. 6 pick at the 2014 NHL Draft, did not return to the game Monday after leaving with 5:58 left in the first period following a hit by Ducks defenseman Josh Manson. Forward Daniel Sedin's seven-game point streak (six goals, six assists) came to an end in Anaheim.

Kings team scope: Los Angeles has won five of its past eight games (5-2-1). After Tuesday, the Kings won't play a Pacific Division opponent until Dec. 22, when they host the San Jose Sharks to begin a stretch of five straight against divisional foes. Coach Darryl Sutter isn't concerned by the Kings' 3-4-0 start against the Pacific Division; they're 6-1-0 against the Central Division after a 3-2 overtime win against the Chicago Blackhawks on Saturday. "We beat Edmonton twice. We haven't played Calgary, haven't played Anaheim. Split with San Jose," Sutter told LA Kings Insider. "So I would say that would be based on losing two to [Arizona] and one to Vancouver. We haven't played well against those teams. I wouldn't say it's got anything to do with divisions." Forward Marian Gaborik has three goals in the past three games after he had two in the first 20. Center Jeff Carter has a point in 15 of 23 games this season, including six of the past eight (three goals, four assists).
